Far too Close

Far too close themes explore their subject from many distance perspectives. Each perspective, from landscape, to portrait, to closeups and to microscopic, opens up an array of issues. Together they reveal how nature is comprised of many different interacting processes.

An example of this approach is given with ‘Pine Barrens’ – a special ecosystem in several locations in north-eastern USA. The images take us from landscape views that show the pine woodlands growing on a very sandy soil, to the fine pores of pine needles and how they breathe.
